Alison Petty Ragguette Working for over fifteen years, Alison Petty Ragguette has developed a comprehensive approach to making objects, in porcelain, glass, and rubber. She has studied at Goldsmiths’ College, University of London, received her BFA from Concordia University (Montreal), and MFA from the California College of the Arts (San Francisco). For the past ten years, she has taught ceramics, most recently, at Thompson Rivers University (Kamloops), Emily Carr Institute (Vancouver), and is currently Assistant Professor of Ceramics at California State University San Bernardino. Alison has been a resident artist at the Taller Cultural in Santiago de Cuba, and coordinated the Cuban Canadian Ceramics Art Collective at Kwantlen University College. She has also been a resident artist at the Jingdehzen Pottery Workshop in China. Her work has been highlighted in several international art publications, most recently featured as an emerging artist in Ceramics Monthly. She has exhibited internationally, including exhibitions at the Galeria De Los Oficios (Santiago de Cuba), the Toki Gallery (Berkeley, California), and the Kamloops Art Gallery (British Columbia). Her work was also selected for the SCAM Bienniale, a touring exhibition throughout western Canada. Alison was awarded first place for ceramic sculpture at the Visions in Clay 2005 Competition juried by Adrian Saxe. She has received grants from both the B.C. Arts Council and Canada Council for the Arts for her research exploring how ceramics and technology intersect as an artist in resident at the Purosil Rubber Company in Corona, California. Her most recent solo exhibition is Viscerlab at the Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum opens on April 10th and closes July 26th, 2008.
